EC recently announced that it will exercise the extension option of 
the actual IBM supercomputer contract until 2011. This will transform 
the supercomputer datacenter in a major work zone for the next two years, 
while significantly increasing our computing power. 

We will review the history of this contract, describe the upgrade, 
explain the rationale behind the decision and outline the longer-term 
future of the whole infrastructure.

EC a récemment annoncé qu'il exercerait l'option de prolongation du contrat 
du superordinateur IBM jusqu'en 2011. Ceci va transformer la salle 
informatique en une importante zone de travaux pour les deux prochaines 
années, tout en augmentant de façon significative notre puissance de calcul. 

Nous rappelerons l'historique de ce contrat, décrirons la mise-à-jour, 
expliquerons les raisons justifiant cette décision et donnerons 
un aperçu du futur de notre infrastructure informatique.
