                         RESUME / ABSTRACT

La technologie des occultations radio est une forme de télédétection
satellitaire qui a un grand potentiel en météorologie. Son caractère
global, à haute résolution verticale et avec des biais très petits augure
un impact important malgré son volume modeste d'observations comparé aux
différents senseurs radiométriques.

Un aperçu de cette technologie sera présenté, ainsi que les différents
instruments qui vont fournir ces données au cours des prochaines années.
Quelques résultats sur des études d'impact dans l'assimilation seront
également présentés, ainsi que le potentiel dans des études climatiques.

The technology of satellite radio occultations is a type of remote sensing
having great potential for meteorology. Its global character, high
vertical resolution and very small bias promise a significant impact
despite the modest volume of observations compared with the different
radiometric sensors.

An overview of this technology will be presented, as well as the different
instruments that are going to provide this kind of data during the next
few years. Some impact results will be presented, and the potential for
climate studies will be discussed.
